Candover Gallery

The Gallery is owned and run by potter and former pottery teacher Barbara Ling. It is housed in a 200 year old listed building in Alresford (pronounced Awlsford), one of Hampshire's attractive towns.

"Since its foundation in 1984 the Candover gallery has earned widespread recognition as one of the finest craft galleries in the UK. It continues to present exhibitions of high quality contemporary glass and ceramics by makers of national and international repute." Peter Lane 2005

Mentioned in the Domesday Book, Alresford is a town with many historical connections stretching back over a thousand years. The decisive battle of the Civil War was fought at nearby Cheriton in 1644 and Oliver Cromwell slept in the Swan Inn. It is also renowned for its watercress beds and 16th century fulling mills. The town has some of the best eating places in Hampshire and has many privately owned specialist shops. Winchester with its famous cathedral, castle, city walls, college and museums is only fifteen minutes' away.
